Since you've started using Clustdoc, you probably came across the terms 'logic jump', 'conditional display' and 'merge fields' a couple of times. In this article, we are going to walk you through these technical concepts to better help you work with your processes.
What is a logic jump?
The logic jump refers to your Clustdoc online forms. It allows you to hide/show specific fields based on previous answers captured in your forms. Logic jump is a small interactive content feature that responds to people's answers.
This way, it's easier and faster to complete your forms and
|When someone replies 'Yes' to question A, show question C||Yes|
|When someone picks answer '#2' from dropdown menu, show question D & E||Yes|
|When someone replies 'No' to question A, fill in question B with following content 'Not a manager'||No, logic jumps do not generate new text dynamically|
What is a conditional display?
A conditional display works similarly to the form logic jump, but applies more specifically at a process or checklist level.
|When someone replies 'Yes' to question A in a form, show them the signature document||Yes|
|When someone signs the document, show the list of required documents||Yes|
|When someone's title is 'Mr' (added in a form), fill out service agreement with masculine gender nouns, but if their title is 'Mrs' fill out service agreement with feminine nouns.||No, conditional display doesn't create or edit content dynamically|
What is a merge field?
A merge field is a feature that allows you to set up a form or contract to be filled out automatically with data in the future.
Example: You have a form with 2 fields and you already know that these 2 fields would need to be added once filled out into your contract. Therefore, you'll add merge fields into the contract to automate that.
|Map 'First Name, Last Name, Address' from form A to 'First Name, Last Name, Address' fields in form B||Yes|
|Add 'Director's full name' captured in form C into the contract next to the signature field||Yes|
|If the end-user says 'Yes' to question A, add 'Manager' in field C of my form||No, merge fields are static data copied and pasted from one field to another as is|
